Jacqulyn "Jackie" Armstrong Kahlden, 76, passed away peacefully in her home in the early morning of January 10, 2025 in
Houston, Texas just shy of her 77th Birthday. She was surrounded by her children and beloved cat Callie. Jackie was born on January 20, 1948 in
Houston, Texas and was the adopted daughter of Marlo Nell and Jack Kendrick Armstrong. She grew up in Bellaire, Texas and graduated from Lamar High School in 1966. Jackie married Claude "Bubba" William Kahlden in 1968 and settled in the Sharpstown area for over 50 years where they raised three children together.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Claude "Bubba" Kahlden of 56 years. She is survived by her sweet cat, Callie; children, Michael Todd Triggs (Renee), Amber Nelle Limbach (Adam) and Rebecca Marie Lipzinski (Joe); four grandchildren, Christina Triggs Whitmer (Connor), Brandon Triggs, Zoe Limbach and Olivia Limbach; and three grandogs, Bowie and Monty Lipzinski and Bentley Triggs. Her beloved cat, Callie has found her new home in Ohio with her new feline brothers, Jojo and Oliver Limbach and K9 buddy, Brodie. She also lovingly cared for 5 outdoor cats that we are in the process of finding new homes for.
As a young woman, Jackie was a candy striper at Texas Children's Hospital and later a pledge trainer and a girl of the Sorority Beta Sigma Phi. Jackie enjoyed expressing her creativity and support in various ways for her children. She had an art of making homecoming mums that everyone at Sharpstown HS between 1982-1993 wore. She made beautiful and intricate flowered cakes, sugar Easter eggs and all things crafty which came very natural to her. She kept herself busy with multiple school projects such as volunteering as room and den mother and various positions with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was an avid supporter and volunteer for S. W. Houston girls softball association, decorations director for Braeburn Boys football banquets and cheerleader mom for six years for junior high, high school and college. She also worked on fundraising projects for sororities at Houston Baptist University. But most of all, she was her children's biggest cheerleader. She also taught vacation bible school at Faith Lutheran Church and while her children were in their last few years of school, she managed Westbury Florist part time creating beautiful floral arrangements. She took pride in decorating her home and gifts with her beautiful bows and flowers at Christmas time. Her Christmas trees looked like something out of a Home and Garden magazine. After raising her three children, she prided herself in her work as a receptionist at a prestigious law firm in Houston. In the latter years, she was a hardworking and dedicated caregiver to her husband.
Other hobbies included offshore fishing and boating, which were both of our parents' passions. She enjoyed cooking and sharing recipes with family and friends. She also had a green thumb and her yard was always pristine, beautiful and she could grow anything from nothing. She loved her sports and was an avid fan of the Astros, Oilers and Texans and always enjoyed watching her teams play. She loved to travel when she could but the beach was always her happy place. She collected sand, shells and rocks from all of her travels. Most of all, her greatest talent and pastime was talking on the phone for hours and hours with her best friends coast to coast and her shopping sprees at Walmart in the middle of the night and closing down stores with her dear friend. Her most cherished moments were times spent with her grandchildren attending and photographing their special occasions. She kept herself close to them throughout the years and enjoyed spending time laughing and reminiscing with them at any chance she could get whether it be on facetime or at the beach.
