Jonathan Truman Kahlden

1976 - 2022

Jonathan Truman Kahlden, 45, of Cecilia, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown

He was born in Louisville on Nov. 15, 1976, to Charles Travers and Imogene Carol Kahlden, and to their family was an unexpected third blessing.

Jonathan's career was marked from its beginning by a strong work ethic, which he carried through a succession of management positions at Sears, Elizabethtown, later Louisville, RentWay, various Western Kentucky locations, Value City, Louisville, and finally Gabe's Elizabethtown, where he recently had completed his 13th year as store manager.

He was loyal to his job but even more dedicated to his family and friends, with considerable crossover between the two. He was the family "handyman" and loved to tinker with things, especially small engines and those engines he believed "could" with a bit of his rust-to-Midas touch. He was an avid UFC, fishing on the lake and golfing fan, all activities enhanced by the love of doing them with his nephew, Kaden.

He was preceded in death by his technical father, Charles; his spiritual father, Truman Jones; and "Gammy" Anna Mae Jones, who some may still recall for her biscuits.

He is survived by his loving mother, Imogene; two Kahlden sisters, Lisa Anne of Brooklyn, New York, and Charissa of Cecilia; a nephew, Kaden Stillwell, also of Cecilia and more recently Western Kentucky University; and neither last nor least, Carlos Harper, known by most in the community as "Pud," with whom he had a bond no words we can come up with express.

A celebration of life begins at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be shown through a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Kosair Children's Hospital or Hardin County Family Resource and Youth Service Centers.
