Jadean was a good fellow. It had been years since I´ve last seen him, but he would have been considered a close friend of mine when we were kids in grade school. Him and a group of our friends, Drequez and Tavarus to name a couple, would always sit out a recess, where we´d talk about Bruce Lee and fighting. When I heard Jadean´s cousin bring up his infatuation with fighting and Bruce Lee as an adolescent, I was choked up as memories came rushing in. He was always so willing to lend myself, Drequez, or any of our other friends with one of his Bruce Lee movies. Afterward we´d meet back at school and try to decipher the movie we just watched the night before in Chinese! We´d share these moments along with the frequent candy he´d bring (often mike and ikes haha).
He always smiled, always gave, and I will always remember him being protective of his family. As a kid I recognized this, but didn´t realize why this was the case. However, it was due to the circumstances he grew up with, which I just didn´t understand at the time. I lived a very different life and couldn´t put relate as a kid, but all I know is that he cared for the people around him. It´s hard to always do the right thing especially when you grow up with the expectations and family requirements he set for himself. But, I hope now he can rest and see that though things weren´t always pretty, people like myself will always remember him as a loving and giving person.
I will never forget your time with our friends at school, sharing your interest in martial arts, and those damn Mike and Ike´s you used to bring and share with us every day when we sat by the stairs during recess.
I wish I could have been more connected with you after those early years and of course I wish things could have went differently, but I will always remember you as that kind young man.
Bless your soul,
Samuel Muldoon
