James T. Anderson (Jim), aged 97, of Lewes, DE, passed away due to pneumonia on February 18, 2025. Born on September 1, 1927, in Manchester County, KY, to Henry and Laura Anderson, Jim led an interesting and fulfilling life. Growing up in the rural coal mining areas of Kentucky he graduated from High School at age of 16. Moved to Detroit to better himself. He entered the Army in 1944 and was deployed to Austria with the military police.
He met the love of his life Iris Nash in 1950. They were married in 1952. Working during the day and going to college at night, Jim graduated with a BA from the University of Detroit in 1953 and went on to a successful career as a human resources executive. Retiring in 1992. His career enabled him to travel the world often with wife Iris joining him. A passionate golfer, James was also an avid traveler and a proud member of the Elks Club. His enthusiasm for his kids and grandkids as well as baseball and football brought great joy to his life, characterized by dedication to his family and community. He moved to Lower Delaware in 2021 to live with Mark and Carrie. His loving wife, Iris Anderson, predeceased him, as did his son Thomas Anderson.
James leaves behind a legacy through his son, Mark (Carrie) Anderson, his four grandsons, Kiel, Casey, Justin, and Wesley, a granddaughter, Carrie, and nine great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and affectionately remembered by all who knew him.
Services for James will be held privately.

As a staff member of the Lewes Senior Activity Center, my interactions with Mr Anderson were always pleasant.
He was ever a gentleman and friendly to all staff & other members. It was a pleasure chatting with him. We loved having him at the center. He used the fitness room, even at his age, he enjoyed our lunches & van rides. He will be greatly missed around the center.
