James A. Arney, 86, of North Manchester, Indiana, died at 12:02 pm, Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on February 14, 1939, in Fort Wayne, to Richard and Pauline (Platt) Arney.
James was a graduate of Northside High School in Fort Wayne, and was a US Army veteran. He married Judith Taylor in Fort Wayne in October of 1988. He worked and retired from Dana Corporation. James was a member of the Vineyard Community Church in Syracuse, Indiana. He was an extremely talented handy man, who enjoyed ice fishing, hiking, woodworking, the outdoors, yard work, and reading. James was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Arney of North Manchester; four children, Melissa Scarberry of North Manchester, Kelly (John) Skaggs of Las Vegas, Nevada, Patrick (Tara) Taylor of Howell, Indiana, and Shane Taylor of North Manchester; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Siri, Lyndsy Lichtsinn, Justin Taylor, Eva Taylor, and Breanna Taylor; 9 great grandchildren; and his brother, Jack (Linda) Arney of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Tom Arney.
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, with Kent Butcher officiating. Friends may call 12:30 - 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 5, at the funeral home.
