In Loving Memory Of
James Edward Berry, age 68, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in Fort Smith. He was born on April 7, 1957, in Fresno, California, to Walter and Jessie Berry.
James was a lifelong resident of Fort Smith. In his younger years, he worked in construction and later discovered a passion for woodworking, becoming a self-taught craftsman who loved building furniture. His skill and dedication to the craft made his work truly remarkable. In addition to his woodworking, James was also a talented artist. He was honored as an "Upcoming Artist" by the Fort Smith Art Museum, a testament to his creative spirit. He was an avid fan of country music and enjoyed listening to it often.
James is survived by his brother, Danny Berry, and wife Betty of Huntington, Arkansas; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Jessie Berry; brother Robert Arnold; and sisters, Beverly Mays, and Phyllis Hawkins.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 24th, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the River Glenn Chapel, 1805 North A Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Gracelawn Cemetery, 3001 Oak Lane, Van Buren, Arkansas.
