James Bignault Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller Funeral Home on Feb. 3, 2026.
James Albert Bignault, of Lawrenceville, GA, left this world far too soon on January 17, 2026. Born on November 8, 1991 in Decatur, GA; he joined, on his father's side, the many grandchildren that would affectionately become known as "The Cousins" and on his mother's side, he was the first grandchild and the only grandson.

James Albert Bignault was showered with love by many from the very start and early in his life developed an understanding of that love and how to show his love to others. He lived with a depth of compassion and creativity that shaped the way he moved through the world. He found meaning and expression through art and music, using both as powerful ways to connect, reflect, and inspire. These were not just interests for James-they were extensions of who he was. He had the utmost enthusiasm for whatever his current interests were. Movies were a constant and lifelong passion of his, but there were many others throughout the years. James had a brilliant mind and excelled at whatever he put his focus on.

Beyond his creative spirit, James was deeply committed to advocating for those less fortunate than himself; children, the weak and elderly, and our planet. He stood firmly for causes that promoted fairness, dignity, and equality, believing that every person deserved to be seen, heard, and valued. His voice, actions, and convictions reflected a quiet strength rooted in empathy and justice. He was willing to jump in and help anyone with anything in their time of need. From helping friends buy cars to packing up extended family member's homes; he was extremely supportive when it mattered most.

James, a star burning bright, lived authentically, guided by heart and principle. Though his life was far too brief, the impact of his compassion, creativity, and advocacy will continue to resonate in the lives he touched and the causes he cared so deeply about.

James is survived by his mother and stepfather, Cherie and Tim Hampton; father and partner, James Bignault and Molly Rushing; sisters and brother in law, Anna Bignault, Jade and Sammy Keyes, and Ruby Rushing; aunts and uncles, Terry and Mel Weingarten, Lauren and Alan Jones, Michael Bignault and Elizabeth Moore, David and Sema Bignault, Stephen and Michelle Bignault, Mary Bignault and Jeff Mitchell, Dr. Jon and Dr. Ann Bignault, and Tim Bramblett; his beloved "Cousins"; his significant other, Theo McLee; stepmother, Lizzette Terrell; step grandmother, Gloria Bignualt; and many other beloved family members and friends. James was also a proud uncle, expecting his first niece this coming July.

James is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Anne Albizer, who often referred to him as their "pride and joy;" paternal grandmother, Saralyn Bignault, who passed on her love of travel and adventure; paternal grandfather, Georges Bignault; and aunts, Georgie Alys Bignault and Cindy Bignault.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 11:30AM at 12Stone Central Campus, 1322 Buford Dr, Lawrenceville, GA 30043. The family will host friends and family for a celebration of James' life that same evening from 6:00 to 10:00PM at Rivermist Clubhouse, 1658 Rivermist Dr SW, Lilburn, GA 30047. This will be a time for everyone to gather in a casual setting, share stories, and spend time in community together. James' family welcomes all to attend either or both events.
