James "Jimmy" Hunter Cress 68, of Concord, NC passed away on Monday March 27, 2023. He passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family. Jimmy was born September 18, 1954 in Concord, the son of the late George Howard Cress and Delores Cress Ford. Jimmy grew up in Concord, NC his entire life and worked many years as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver until he retired in 2014.
Jimmy is survived by his only daughter Pamela Cress Sages and husband Robert T. Sages of Concord. His two grandchildren Hunter N. Sages of ECU and Nicholas T. Sages of Concord. His one sister Brenda Cress Haskin and husband Rusty Haskin of Concord. His two brothers Lynn Cress and wife Debbie Cress of Concord and Michael Cress and wife Joan Cress of China Grove. His one niece Cheryl Poole and husband Joshua Pool and great nephews Corey and Kristopher Stank of Concord. His 6 nephews Bryan Yarborough and wife Emily Yarborough of Concord, Drew Cress of China Grove, Matthew Cress and Vicky Ho Cress of Anchorage Alaska, Aaron Cress and wife Jingjing Cress and great nieces Elaine and Anna Cress of Charlotte, Joseph Cress and wife Brittany Cress and great niece Natalie Cress of Greensboro. Special long time and best friends include Tom Caudle of Concord, David Johnson of Concord, and Joe Collins of Concord.
Jimmy enjoyed spending time and holidays with his family and friends, riding motorcycles, working on cars, boating, fishing, sky diving and flying his paraplane.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023 from 3:00pm - 4:00pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord, 460 Branchview Dr., Concord, NC 28025. A memorial service to celebrate Jimmy's life will follow at 4:00pm in the funeral home chapel.
The family is many times grateful for the great care provided by the nursing staff at Cabarrus County Hospice.
