Epping, NH - James Roy Desroches, fondly known as "Jim" or "Jimmy," passed away peacefully at his home in Epping, NH, on August 29, 2024, at the age of 83.
Born on June 17, 1941, in Brentwood, NH, Jim was the son of the late Louis Desroches and Barbara (Fogg) Desroches. He grew up in Newmarket and Epping, NH, alongside his three siblings. Jim was known for his exceptional work ethic, dedicating many years of his life to staining furniture at Lagasse Furniture Store in Massachusetts. His dedication was evident in his impeccable attendance, rarely taking a sick day throughout his career.
A longtime resident of Epping since 1954, Jim shared 41 loving years with his companion, Sue Sweeney, until her passing in 2021. Known for his sociable and talkative nature, Jim was a familiar face around town, especially at the town dump, where his love for tinkering often led him to bring home more items than he dropped off. An avid Chevrolet admirer, Jim also enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly mowing his lawn and tending to his property.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his beloved Sue and his brother, Donald, who passed in 1996.
Jim is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Kathy Desroches; his sister, Mary Desroches; his daughter, Angelina, and her husband, Eric Murphy, along with their family; his son, John, and his wife, Chanel Sweeney, and their family; as well as many nieces and nephews and his close friend who took care of him for the past 5 years, Wanda Wallace.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Exeter Cemetery.
