James Fisher Obituary
James "Hook" Fisher of Sylva, NC, passed away on Veterans Day, November 11, 2021 following a brief illness. He was 75 years old. He was the husband of the late Jenny Fisher, and the youngest son of the late Allen and Willie Fisher. He is survived by his daughters Megan and Sheila, seven grand children, four great grand children, his sister Sarah and his partner Kay Orr Goetz. After serving 25+ years in the United States Navy, he retired as a Lieutenant and he returned to his childhood home in Addie NC in 1993. James enjoyed fishing, hence the nickname "Hook", and he enjoyed rambling out in the West, mainly Nevada where he truly felt the happiest. This year James celebrated 36 years of sobriety as he was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. James will be missed by many who knew him. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, NC. Burial will follow in the Old Field Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
