James Price "Jim" Forsyth, age 84, of Pikeville, Kentucky passed away Monday, October 6, 2025 at Pikeville Medical Center.
Jim was born October 4, 1941 at his family's home in Weeksbury, Kentucky, the son of the late John Dils Forsyth, Sr. and Jean Clair Moon Forsyth.
He was the Pike County Electrical Inspector for several years, a mining electrician, 5th generation owner and proprietor of Dils & Company, a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner & member of both the Scottish & York Rights, a founding member of the Island Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and a retired United States Marine, where he achieved the rank of Lance Corporal.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice Justice Forsyth, two brothers, Augustus Preston "Buddy" Forsyth, and John Dils Forsyth, Jr., and three sisters, Linda Grace Forsyth, Sylvia Marie Forsyth & Rose Anne Forsyth.
He is survived by three sons, Brian Keith Forsyth of Jenkins, Kentucky, Kenneth Ryan (Lisa) Forsyth of Pikeville, Kentucky, and Samuel Jonathan (Michelle) Forsyth of Harold, Kentucky. He is also survived by one brother, Daniel Hibbard Forsyth of Pikeville, Kentucky, one sister, Carolyn Burgess of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, 6 grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Justin, Carla, Conner and Kyndal and 9 great-grandchildren, Cailyn, Aleigha, Kaci, Landon, Jackson, Hayden, Ian, Willow and Aria.
