James Larry Fousek, 87, husband of Elaine Fousek, passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Larry was born in Anderson, SC and was the son of the late Carl Joseph Fousek and Vera Moore Fisher. He graduated from Fair Play High School, served in the US Air Force, and attended Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. He was a long-time member of Mauldin Methodist Church.
Larry worked for many years in apparel industry management including at Stone Manufacturing and Her Majesty Industries where he was VP of Operations. He was an officer in the SC Needle Trades Association where he was awarded Man of the Year in 1986. Larry was also awarded Greenville Jaycees Boss of the Year in 1984. Along with his wife Elaine, Larry served for many years as an officer of Mauldin High School Band Boosters. During his retirement years, he worked with DPW Tax Services.
Larry was honest to a fault and a champion rule follower. Even though he rarely got in it, he kept the most pristine backyard pool the world has ever known. Larry kept his emotions to himself for the most part, but his girls always knew when he meant business because of the dreaded look of disappointment. His grandchildren, who happen to be perfect, affectionately called him Bop Bop. Larry's family was the greatest joy of his life.
In addition to his devoted wife of 60 years, Elaine, Larry is survived by daughters Ashley Cramton and Kelly Radecki (Mike); grandchildren Emily Cramton (Andy Sharpe), Sydney R. Whitman (Ethan), William Cramton, and Elizabeth Radecki. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Fousek; sister, Pat Arnett; half-brothers, Ron Fousek (Jewell) and Ray Fousek (Peggy); half-sister, Jean Bowie (David) as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his brother Tony Fousek, and his much-loved mother-in-law, Rose Marie Newsom.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. at Mauldin Methodist Church followed by the service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mauldin Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Agape Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation of SC at www.hpcfoundation.org.
The family would like to thank Agape Care Group for their loving and compassionate care of Larry and his family.
