Publish in a newspaper

James Gersin, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at his home in Ashtabula.

He was born on April 1, 1951 in Mentor, OH, the son of Paul and Olga (Pilot) Gersin.

A graduate of Mentor High School, he spent 30 years as the stockroom manager at Tartan Marine, retiring in 2001. It was there that he met his future wife, Linda Woodworth, and the two were married on July 25, 1998. James had a passion for cars, especially his '67 Chevy Chevelle, which he enjoyed racing at Thompson Raceway. He also loved music, particularly classic rock, Led Zepplin, and the hits of the 70s and 80s. Known for his kind and gentle nature, he treated everyone with compassion. He was a huge animal lover and felt the losses of his pets deeply over the years.

James is survived by his wife, Linda Gersin; step-daughters, Elizabeth Moss and Jill Moss-Mcqueen, both of Ashtabula; brother, Paul (Betty) Gersin of Perry; and several nieces and nephews, including Jessica Gersin to whom he was especially close.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Gersin; and his beloved cats, Fluffy, Prince, and Boots.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 4-5PM with a service to follow at 5PM at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. Burial will be at 2PM Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Alexander Harper Cemetery, 2036 S. County Line Rd, Geneva.

Memorials contributions may be made to the family in care of his wife.
