James Madison Guy, of Midway, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday evening, September 18, 2025.
Born on February 23, 1951, in Jonesville, North Carolina, James was the son of John Raymond and Etha Gentry Guy. He was a graduate of Parkland High School and went on to work for many years at Pike Electric in Mount Airy before retiring from Altec, also in Mount Airy.
James will be remembered as a hardworking, dedicated, independent and practical person and beloved brother. He was polite, warm, considerate, honest, and independent—a beloved brother and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rebecca Guy Gilyard. James is survived by his brothers John D. Guy and Thomas D. Guy (Delieta), and his sister Joan Guy Edwards (Randy). He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Marty Dozier, John Edwards, Ben Edwards, Patrick Guy, Julie Guy Whitlow, Leslie Dozier Reen, and Angela Joan Austin.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 3250 High Point Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. Mr. Dennis Kinnan and Mr. John Guy will speak at the service.
James’s legacy of kindness, integrity, and devotion to family will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
