James Brandon Harp, a man of boundless passion and courage, left this world too soon at the age of 34, alongside his beloved infant son, John Logan. Their lives were tragically cut short on Sunday, September 29, 2024, following a motor vehicle accident.
Born on October 12, 1989, in McAlester, Oklahoma, Brandon was the cherished son of Darrell Lee Harp and Sharon Joann (Ford) Davis. On October 11, 2022, Brandon married his soulmate, Brianna Noel Barnes, in Buffalo Valley, Oklahoma, and together they built a life filled with joy and companionship.
Brandon is lovingly remembered by his wife, Brianna Harp; his daughter, Kaylee Harp; his son, Landon Slaughter Harp; his father, Darrell Harp; his mother, Sharon Davis; his brother, Dustin Harp; his nephew, Dax Harp; his niece, Millie Harp; and a multitude of other family members and friends who were blessed to know him. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Finis J R Harp, Sybil Joyce Harp, Frank Ford, and Ila Ford, whose legacy of love and strength he carried forward.
An avid outdoorsman, Brandon's zest for life was infectious. He found solace and excitement in riding his Can-Am, often embarking on nocturnal adventures that led to laughter-filled tales of getting lost and the occasional mishap. His love for the lake was well-known, despite his comical misfortune with his boat. Fishing was more than a hobby; it was a cherished pastime where he and Brianna could bask in each other's company and the tranquility of nature.
Brandon's passion for motorcycles was evident in his adoration for his Harley, especially with Brianna by his side. He lived with the philosophy that life was best shared with loved ones, and he wove this belief into every aspect of his existence. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "It is not the length of life, but the depth of life." Brandon's life, though cut short, was lived with remarkable depth and purpose.
A devoted father, Brandon's love for his children was unparalleled. He endeavored to be present for every significant moment in Kaylee's life and embraced Landon as his own from the very beginning. Their nightly routine of watching chuckwagon races to "study" for the next event was a testament to their special bond.
Brandon's life was a testament to the virtues of being passionate, courageous, and selfless. He approached each day with a heart ready to give and a spirit that never wavered in the face of adversity.
As we bid farewell to Brandon, we celebrate a life lived fully and with intention. We honor a man who was not only a husband, father, son, brother, and friend but also a beacon of joy and resilience. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to live each day with the same fervor and generosity that he so naturally embodied. Brandon's story may have reached its untimely end, but the chapters he wrote in the lives of others will be read and cherished for generations to come.
The funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Wilburton with Pastor Dana Hugle officiating. The burial will follow at Baldwin Cemetery, Cravens Community, Oklahoma with John Logan being buried in the arms of his father.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Harp, Aaron Henson, Cary McFadden, Darren Rimer, Adam Hammons, Levi Hagelberger, and Seth Jones.
