James J. Hogsett Jr. of Peninsula passed away on 12/05/2024 after a short illness. He was born on May 16, 1940 in Cleveland Ohio to Julian and Alice Hogsett and lived in the area all his life. He graduated from Kirtland High School in 1958, Denison University in 1962, and Kent State in 1964. He served in the National Guard for five years, worked for BF Goodrich for 27 years, then the IRS before retiring in 2004.
He was a member of Redeemer Church and a member of the National Association of Accountants and the Ohio Spoonpluggers Club. He was a fishing enthusiast, loved gardening, science, history, classical music and Chubby Checker. He loved to travel--taking many trips with his family around the country to National Parks and historic sites. He loved the Cleveland Guardians and other sports but was even more excited watching his children and grandchildren in their many sporting and school activities.
Jim was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be remembered for his quiet wit, steadfast love of his family and thirst for knowledge.
He is preceded in death by his parents Julian and Alice and his sisters Nancy and Patricia.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet, their daughter Lisa Carlisle (Jeff), son Brian Hogsett (Laura), grandchildren Brandon and Joey, sister Pamela Palmisano (Larry), brothers and sisters in law, many nieces and nephews and friends.
Services will be held Monday, December 9, 2024, at 12pm, at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, where friends may call from 11am until time of service.
