James Murphy Housley
James Murphy Housley, 73, answered the Lord's call on April 21st, 2025, in Pine Grove, Louisiana. Born on June 27th, 1951, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, James lived a life deeply rooted in family, friendship, and the great outdoors. Throughout his life, James was known for his unwavering devotion to those he loved. A true family man at heart, he dedicated himself fully to nurturing and supporting his family. He was loyal and loving to his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Sheryl. His love was boundless and evident in every aspect of his life. James found immense joy in spending time with friends and family. Whether gathered around a table sharing stories or out in the woods on a hunting trip, he cherished every moment spent with those close to him. An avid hunter, James had a deep appreciation for nature and the traditions that came with it. His passion for the outdoors was matched by the warmth he brought into every gathering.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Bobbie Sheryl Dyess Housley; brother John Housley; his sons Richard Scott Housley (Tara Burns Housley) and Steven Murphy Housley; his grandchildren Trey Housley, Olivia Housley, Ethan Housley, and Kelsy Travis (Landon); and many great grandchildren. Their lives reflect the love and dedication James poured into his family.
James was preceded in death by his father Richard Murphy Housley; his mother Lillie Temple Housley; his brothers M.C. Housley, Garland Housley, Dale Housley, Lanny Housley; and his sister Vicki McLin.
James's legacy of love, loyalty, and strength will continue to inspire all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing and joy to those who celebrate the life he lived so fully.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation from the Chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190 West Hammond, LA. on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Keith Wagner will officiate with interment to follow in the Housley Family Cemetery in Amite.
