Mr. James Lester, Jr. was born in Rowland, NC June 27, 1953 to the late James Lester, Sr., and Flora Mae Lester. James departed this life February 24, 2025 at the First Health Hospice in West End, North Carolina.
James' primary level education was received within the Robeson County Schools. He moved on to Southside School in Rowland, NC, graduating in1970. James went on to serve his country and joined the United States Air Force, where he served honorably for 4 years. James was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. When needed the most he was there to give support, wisdom, and pure
unconditional love in abundance. Always greeting you with warm smiles, tight embraces, and lasting conversation. Preceding him in death was his devoted wife of 50 years, Mary Lester, his
father, James Lester, Sr., and mother, Mrs. Flora M. Lester. His brother, Johnnie L. Lester, two sisters: Dianna Lester, and Annie M. Manning. His in laws: John and Lillie Deberry, Cleopis Deberry, Alphonso Deberry, Melvin Deberry, and Arthur Deberry, Clyde Deberry and Johnnie Deberry. To treasure his memories and love, he leaves two sons: Christopher "CJ" Lester of Lumberton, NC, and Corey Tremayne Lester (Rebecca) of Marion, VA. Four grandchildren: Jamont Lester of Fayetteville, NC, Chrisean Lester of Denton, TX, Amanti "Happy" Lester of Pembroke, NC and Jaman Lester of Hampton, VA. Three brothers: Herman Lester (Patricia) of Rowland, NC, Willie Lester (Gloria) of Clayton, NC. William Lester (Cynthia) of Red Springs, NC. One sister, Helen Gwendolyn Lester-Huntley of Rowland, NC. Four sisters-in-law: Rudean McGee of Jacksonville, FL, Doretha Deberry-Wildon of Miami, FL., Vivian Deberry of Atlanta, GA and Alfreda Northcutt of Ocilla, GA. One brother-in-law, Nathan Manning of Hamer, SC. Two great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, close friends and acquaintances. A dear special
brother/sister of 51 years, Mr. Terry Person (Shelby) and a special brother, Robert Coleman.
