James McCoy III, our precious son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away quietly on Friday, June 14 at Harborview Hospital in Seattle, Washington at 47 years of age. He was born January 9, 1977 in Saginaw, Michigan to the union of James McCoy II and LaRissa Johnson McCoy. He was the most loving person you would ever meet. James was devoted to loving his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. He was full of integrity, joy, and he enjoyed music, especially Aretha Franklin. He was a kind-hearted and compassionate person who was always sharing his caring nature with all, especially his family. He served faithfully as a team leader in retail for over 20 years.
He leaves to forever cherish his loving spirit his sister Rev. LaNesha McCoy DeBardelaben of Seattle, Washington and brother Trevon Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada; two uncles Anderson (Yolanda) Johnson of Portage, Michigan and Brian (Belinda) Johnson of Saginaw, Michigan; aunts Allison (Donald) Jennings of North Little Rock, Arkansas; Debra Johnson of Saginaw, Michigan; Rev. Florene Queen-Frierson of Little Rock, Arkansas; Mattie (Melvin) Patterson of Steubenville, Ohio; Bertha Smith of Bridgeton, Missouri; cousins Lynetta (Lionel) Kidd of Frisco, Texas; Toni Michelle (Isaiah) Davis of Richmond, Virginia; Melody (Marcus) Ponder of Haslet, Texas; LaKendra Butler of Richmond, Virginia; Michael Johnson of Portage, Michigan; Brandon Johnson of Saginaw, Michigan; special family friend Cynthia Bell of Saginaw, Michigan; great-aunt Mildred Harris of Saginaw, Michigan; other special cousins, aunts, uncles; many other relatives and friends, all whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother LaRissa Johnson; father James McCoy II; grandmother Melvina Boose Evans; aunt Lynetta Johnson; uncle Michael Johnson; special cousin Candice Johnson; paternal aunts Lucille Larry, Geneva Bardoni, Mary Frances Evans, Ann Thompson, Rosie Walker; friend Tara Wilson; and other dear relatives. His beloved grandmother Gaylua Y. Johnson, whom he loved dearly, passed away one week after James.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Harborview Hospital and Dr. Grant Fletcher of Seattle.
