James J. "Jamey" McMahon, age 52, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He was the beloved son of Jean M. (Choquette) McMahon and her partner James Phetteplace, and the late James J. McMahon. Jamey was a loving brother to Brian McMahon and his wife Jessica, and he will be deeply missed by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A proud graduate of Cranston East High School in 1990, Jamey continued his education at the Rhode Island Trade Shop School. During this time, he also demonstrated his dedication and discipline by earning his black belt in karate. For many years, Jamey dedicated his skills as a telephone line repair technician. Known for his gift of gab, Jamey could easily spend hours connecting with friends and family on the phone, always ready for a heartfelt conversation. Though he loved deeply, his emotions often ran profound and were sometimes difficult to express.
Above all else, Jamey treasured his family, his many dear friends, and his precious canine companion, Buddy, whom he welcomed into his life 14 years ago. Jamey possessed a tender heart for the underdog, a quality that truly reflected his compassionate nature.
While was a bit of the homebody, he rarely missed the joyful tradition of the Gaspee Day parade, always surrounded by loved ones. He also cherished the simple pleasure of gathering around a fire with his friends, sharing stories and laughter. A lover of games, Jamey enjoyed playing cards, though a hint of playful suspicion might arise if the game wasn't going his way! His loyalty extended to the baseball diamond, where he followed Wade Boggs to the New York Yankees and remained a devoted fan. Jamey had an appreciation for the classics, a true vintage soul with a fondness for cars, especially his treasured '69 Camaro.
Jamey's kind spirit, stubbornness, and unique character will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jamey's visitation will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 3-6pm with a service at 6pm in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick.
In lieu of flowers, in the spirit and memory of Jamey's love for the underdog please consider a donation to the Defenders of Animals,P.O. Box 8763, Cranston, RI 02920.
