James Arthur McMahon Jr., 73, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Brudnick Center for living in Peabody, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 7, 1951, he was the son of the late James A. McMahon Sr. and Helen (Gagner) McMahon.
James was born and raised in Lynn; throughout his life he had a deep appreciation and passion for the sea. James loved both the ocean and the forest. Much of his retirement was spent on his boat with his buddies and kids or traveling to Maine to be with his granddaughter. He leaves a respect and wonder for the natural world to live on with his family.
He dedicated 35 years of his life to General Electric, where he worked as a steam engineer with unwavering commitment and pride. As a proud member of the lodge, James built lasting friendships and contributed to a community that meant the world to him. He had a contagious smile, kind eyes, and could make friends anywhere he went.
James will be dearly missed and is survived by his loving children, Lindsay McMahon of Machias, ME, and Ryan McMahon and his partner Dari Fabian of Lynn, MA, as well as his beloved granddaughter, Finley McMahon of Machias, ME, former wife, Patricia (Saboski) McMahon, his sister, Cheryl Damon and her husband Don Damon of Florida and his Aunt Violet McMahon of Lynn. James is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
All services for James will be private.
