James J. Murphy Jr., 80 years old, passed away on March 21st, 2025, at the Hudson Valley Hospice House in Hyde Park, NY.
James was born in Honolulu, HI on September 1, 1944, he was the son of the late James J. and the late Rosemary Ramos Murphy Sr.
James was a Veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, he was also a member of the BPOE #275, the American Legion 1302 and the Saint Martin's Knights of Columbus.
James was a local resident since 1977. He was a retired Sr. Investigator for the New York State Police Department BCI Unit retiring in 2004.
He loved spending time with the family and playing golf with his friends.
James is survived by his daughter Michelle Murphy of Poughkeepsie, his daughter Melissa Green and her husband Sean of Poughquag New York, their mother Evelyn Murphy, his brother Richard and his wife Lillian Murphy of Floral Park, and brother Michael Murphy and his partner Marika Powers of California. Also survived by grandchildren Brittany Albertson, Sean Green Jr, Savannah Mojica and her husband Josh, Zoe Green, Phillip DelVecchio, and great grandchildren Mason and Charlie Mojica.
Visitation will be Tuesday March 25th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Timothy P Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie NY 12603.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday March 26, 2025, 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church 775 Main St. Poughkeepsie NY.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Calvary Cemetery in Queens NY.
