James H. Racer, age 83 of Pierce Twp., died Friday, January 13, 2023 at Cleveland Clinic Martin North in Stuart, Florida. Jim was born June 6, 1939 in Marietta, Ohio to Harold and Ethel Westbrook Racer. He graduated from high school in Marietta. Jim received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Master's Degree from Xavier University. He also attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary.
Jim had been employed by Sencorp and its predecessor, Senco Products from 1963 until his retirement from Sencorp on June 30, 1996. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Maxine McKnight Racer on January 10, 1960 and they celebrated their 63rd anniversary on Monday. He is survived by his wife Maxine and 3 sons, James Todd and his wife Sharone Beres Racer of Cincinnati, Michael and his wife Lori Svirha Racer of Pleasanton, CA, and Timothy and his wife Jennifer Yankow Racer of Cincinnati, his grandchildren, Kaela, Justin (Daniella), Hunter, Ali, Ryan, Kylie, Hayley, and Owen, his great-grandson, James Arthur, his brother John (Marilou) Racer of Forest, VA and his sister, Lucy Nelle Friedrichs of Milwaukee, WI, and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was a member of Mt. Washington Baptist Church where he served as deacon and on pulpit, and several other committees. He also served for several years on the Board of Judson Village of Westwood and was a former member of the Anderson Twp. Chamber of Commerce.
Funeral service will be held at Mt. Washington Baptist Church on Saturday, January 28th at 12 Noon. Friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 10:30 am to 12 pm. Interment will follow at Pierce Twp. Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Mt. Washington Baptist Church.
