ALEXANDRIA, IN – James P. "Jim" Reed, 65, entered peace and rest from his residence on Friday, August 23, 2024, following a long journey through cancer.
Jim was born on October 1, 1958, in Anderson to J. Paul and Norma (Allen) Reed and has been a lifetime Alexandria resident. Jim was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School-Class of 1977, and he attended Ball State University for 2 years. He owned and operated Fashions in Flowers in Alexandria, was a realtor for Century 21 Real Estate and was a copier technician for Miller-Huggins in Anderson. Jim retired in 2023 from the shipping/receiving department at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was a member of the Alexandria Elks Lodge #478 and the Alexandria Eagles Lodge #1771. Jim bowled in numerous leagues down through the years and achieved that elusive 300 game! He enjoyed playing softball for the "Rowdys" and coached girls' softball for a few years. He followed baseball as a fan of the Chicago Cubs. Jim's passion was golfing, and in March of this year, he finally got his hole in one at Deer Valley Golf Couse in Arizona. He was a member of the former Yule Men's Golf Club. Jim was a football fan of the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts. For more than 15 years, Jim and Kim have shared a spring golf trip to Gatlinburg and a fall golf trip to Florida with other golfing friends and their wives. Jim loved traditions and for more than 40 years his annual Christmas party was an event that many looked forward to.
