James Arthur Rousseau, 96, of Fredericktown passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Mount Vernon. He was born on July 21, 1928 in Westmoreland County, PA to the late Ernest R. and Hazel M. (Bamford) Rousseau.
James retired in 1990 with 41 years of service with PPG Industries in Wichita Falls, TX and Mount Vernon, OH. He was a member of the Ohio Archeological Society, a former member of the Northern Ohio Beagle Association, and a member of the Dixie Car Club. As long as he could, he bowled, looked for arrowheads and split firewood.
James is survived by his daughters, Phyllis Ellen (David) Randall of Mount Vernon, Teresa Marie Rousseau of Fredericktown, Rosemary Ann (David) Loomis of Greenville, NC and Margaret Lyn Rousseau of Wichita Falls, TX; sons, James Keith (Rebecca) Rousseau of New Albany, Ernest Lee Rousseau of Fredericktown and Laurence Allen (Mickey) Rousseau of Burkburnett, TX; 19 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Brown and JoAnn Blubaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary E. Rousseau; a grandson, Ozzie E. Stroud; a sister, Emily Vinck; a brother, Clair Rousseau; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Rousseau; and two canine companions, Tippy and Georgie.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Dowds Chapel 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon where a funeral service will begin following the visitation at 7 p.m. Inurnment will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
The family appreciates the care provided by the staff of Country Club Rehabilitation Center, Capital City Hospice and Sharon and Jennifer.
