James M. Seelinger I, age 53, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at his residence surrounded by family and friends after an extended illness. Born in Erie on November 13, 1969, he was a son of Kenneth J. Seelinger, Sr. and the late Arlene S. (Patchen) Seelinger.
Jim worked at Gehrlach's in the road maintenance division. Previously, he had worked at Tires for Less for many years. He enjoyed watching hockey and football and especially loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jim also liked to hunt and fish. His dog, Kilo, was very special to him as well.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by two nieces, Rebecca Rose Seelinger and Amanda Bowen, and a nephew, Kenneth Seelinger III.
Survivors include his loving partner, Cecile "Mary" (Hyslop) Burton; his father, Kenneth J. Seelinger, Sr. (Tina Kay Russell); his children, Brittany Seelinger (Jeff Roden) and L.J. Seelinger; a grandson, Jaxxon; siblings, Tracie ZeJavac (Al), Terri Komisarski (Bob), Tammi Ferrante (Terry), Tina House (Roy) and Kenneth J. Seelinger, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Christine Bowen; step-children, Kevin Burton (Karen)and Joshua Burton (Kayla) and Zackary Burton (April); step-grandchildren, Jayden, Caleb, Olivia, Junior, and Izzy; and a special nephew, Tristan Bowen.
Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3108 Sterrettania Rd. Arrangements are being handled by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3108 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506. Condolences may be expressed at www.bruggerfuneralhomes.com.
