Kathy Jo "Teach" Seelinger, 76, of Crystal, Michigan, and formerly of Bay City, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at her residence. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Celebration of life will take place on Sunday January 12th from 1pm-4pm @ Uptown Cafe in Crystal MI.
Born on April 12, 1948, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Wallace and Lillian (Schroeder) Seelinger, Kathy spent her childhood in Bay City and summers at Linwood Beach. She graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1966, and later earned a teaching degree from Michigan State University in 1971. Kathy began her teaching career at Hubbardston Elementary School, later teaching Adult Education at Carson City-Crystal High School and at Michigan Works before retiring in 2004 after 33 years of service.
A lover of the outdoors, Kathy enjoyed spending time in the sun, entertaining family and friends by her pool, and hosting "Cousins Weekend." She had a knack for adding a personal touch to everything, especially when it came to gifting her loved ones with her creative "blinged" presents. Kathy was also fond of garage sales and always found ways to make every occasion special by dressing festively. Her heart of gold, infectious smile, and love for everyone will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her love of her life, Ken Casey; siblings, Wallace "John" (June) Seelinger and Jeanne (Gary) Poirier; sister-in-law, Judy Seelinger; nieces and nephews, Brad (Christina) Seelinger, Brett (Lisa) Seelinger, Steven (Daphne) Seelinger, Cheri Poirier-Dixon, Michelle (Mark) Poirier-Wilson, and Gary (Kristina) Poirier; great-nieces and nephews, Samantha, Jake, Katie, Auden, Quinton, Wyatt, Gunner, Brandi, Sydney, Lucas, Olivia, Dominic, and her dog, Charlie. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Seelinger, great-niece Lillian Dixon and great-nephew Grayson Poirier.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation. Condolences can be shared online at www.oguinnfh.com.
