James Scott Smith, age 61, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on May 9, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital after a courageous battle with a cancerous brain tumor.
James was born in Georgia, where his father was stationed with the U.S. Army. In 1973, the family relocated to Colorado, which he proudly called home for the rest of his life. James dedicated 26 years to his career in Inside Sales at CED and also served honorably in the Marine Reserves.
He was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in spending time with his loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Kayla (Westfall) Smith, whom he married on August 19, 1989, in Colorado. He is also survived by his children, Kaylin Smith (Tre) of Colorado Springs and Christopher Smith of Crested Butte; and his cherished grandchildren, Meah and Skye.
James leaves behind his mother, Janie Smith of Redmond, WA; his siblings, Bob Smith (Cindy) of Beulah, CO, Susan Smith (Steve) of Redmond, WA, and Bill Smith (Veronica) of Westminster, CO.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held in July to honor James and the love he shared with all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to any cancer organization of your choice in James's memory.
James will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed.
