James Roger Spicer Sr.

James R. Spicer, Sr., 85, of Bear, passed away on Dec. 31, 2024.
He was the son of W. Erwin Spicer and H Virginia Spicer. Jim was raised in the Port Penn area and a graduate of Middletown High School.
Jim is a United States Marine Corps Veteran, who was honorably discharged after 6 years of service. He worked for Delmarva Power, at the Delaware City Power Plant as a Control Room Operator. He retired after 38 1/2 years of service. Jim is a lifetime member of the Christiana Vol. Fire Company serving 50 + years of active service
He was predeceased by his infant son, James R. Spicer, Jr., parents, Erwin and Virginia Spicer and a brother, Richard E. Spicer.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 53 1/2 years, D. Jane Spicer, his son, Keith D. Spicer and a brother, Kenneth. He is also survived by a host of his extended family.
Jim was a devoted husband and father who always put family first, He will be missed by family and friends!!
Funeral services will be held on Wed., Jan. 8th at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE where family and friends may visit from 11 am to 12 pm. The service will begin at Noon.
Burial will follow in Old Drawyers Cemetery.
