James Anthony Stedman

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived we announce the passing of James Anthony Stedman, affectionately known as "Poppy", who peacefully left this world on June 25, 2025. A man of deep compassion, humor, and unwavering support, James brought light and laughter to everyone he met.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend. James was survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy; his children Mark (Christina) and Tonya (Andrew); brother Dennis (Mary); grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas, Ryan (Jaquelyn), Hannah, Dodge, Logan and Truly; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Harry Logan Stedman and his mother Helen May Stedman.
James was a beacon of love, kindness, and humor. He proudly served in the United States Army and continued to travel the world with his wife for many years. He brought a smile, and a joke or two everywhere he went. With 48 years of sobriety, he always saw the best in everyone and devoted his life to helping people, and in doing so, changed countless lives. James leaves behind a legacy steeped in compassion, hope, and laughter; a legacy as unforgettable as the man himself.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Washburn McReavy Hillside Funeral Chapel (2610 19th Ave N.E.). Visitation begins at 10 a.m.
For all who loved James, may you find peace in your memories and strength in the love he shared so freely. He will be missed beyond words. Your love brings us comfort in this time of deep sorrow. The world has lost a truly exceptional soul.
