In the peace of God's loving arms, Marian Lorraine (Larson) Anderson, stepped into her eternal & heavenly Home on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Marian, 94, was born on February 17, 1931, to Gustav and Ebba (Magnuson) Larson of Minneapolis, MN. A soft-spoken, shy young woman, Marian showed more courage than many more boisterous individuals, deeply impacting people around her, and situations she found herself in. She graduated from Minnehaha Academy (Mpls) in 1949. She married the love of her life, James (Jim) W. Anderson on July 7, 1951, and together they created a warm and gracious home, raising 4 children. Jim's teaching jobs moved them from Cannon Falls, to Northfield, to Burnsville and finally back to Minneapolis, MN, filling the years with family, friends and many adventures. When the children were young, her quiet and adventurous spirit led her to work as a transcriber and typist for a St. Olaf College professor, Henrietta Larson. Once the children were all in school, Marian worked as a secretary, first at Cedar Grove Elementary School in Eagan, MN, then for the director of food service for ISD #191 in Burnsville, MN and later in the financial aid department at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN. Always involved in the kitchen of every church she attended, she was instrumental in designing a new kitchen at their home church, Crosstown Covenant Church in Minneapolis. She was an early member of the Joy Circle at Park Ave Covenant Church, so when Marian & Jim were able to return to Park Ave after nearly thirty years at other churches, they reconnected with this wonderful group of friends. Marian was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 63 years, Jim Anderson; parents, Gustav and Ebba Larson; brother, Kenneth (Margaret) Larson and sister, Bernice (John) Frykman. She is survived by sons Brian (Sandy) Anderson, Bradley (Robin) Anderson, Scott (Kirsten) Anderson, daughter Karen (Thane) Lewis, grandchildren Alice Anderson, Eric (Alissa) Anderson, Benjamin (Lindsey) Anderson, Kelly (Cody) White, Samuel Anderson and great grandchildren Noah Anderson, Isabelle Anderson, Evangeline Anderson, Adelaide Anderson, Olivia Anderson, and several nieces and nephews. Inurnment ceremony will be held at Washburn-McReavy Hillside Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 13, 2025. 2610 19th Avenue N.E. Minneapolis, MN 55418. Visitation at 10am, service of remembrance at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Community Emergency Services (CES) of Mpls, MN. [cesmn.org]
