Mr. James (Jim) Byrd Steele Jr., age 87, of Spicewood, Texas, passed away Sunday evening, June 30th, 2024, at Llano Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Llano, Texas.
He was born December 6, 1936, in Houston, Texas, a son of the late James Byrd Steele Sr. and Elizabeth Sizemore Steele Gore. James was preceded in death by his wife RuthAnn Steele, brother John Steele, sister Mary Duke, and son James (Jay) Byrd Steele the third.
He attended the University of Houston graduated with an Associate's Degree in History; was in the United States Airforce as an Airman Third Class from 1956-1958. James went on to become a Master Electrician. He worked for Llano County EMS and volunteered at the Spicewood Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed golf, history, and lunch with his family followed by ice cream from Dairy Queen.
James is survived by his three sons, two daughter's in-law, four grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren. Sons John Thomas (Tommy) Steele, Richard Barton Steele and wife Shannon Steele, Ryan Christopher Steele and Wife Christie Steele. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren Rebecca Steele, her son Beckett Thomas Richards, Christopher and Wife Eden Steele, their son Canaan Reed Steele, Joshua Mertink, and Philip Steele. As well as the many members of the community he served and helped; He will be missed dearly.
The Memorial Service will be held, Saturday July 27th, 2024, at the Spicewood Community from 12:00pm-4:00pm.
