James Stevens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home - Tontogany Chapel on Oct. 29, 2025.
James L. Stevens, 69, of Weston, Ohio, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025. He was born on March 30, 1956, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to the late Elem and Norine (Houtz) Stevens. He married Gioconda Collazos Callao on March 21, 1993, and she survives in Weston, Ohio.
James was a proud graduate of Otsego High School in Tontogany, Ohio. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and later built a long and dedicated career at Heinz, where he worked for over 20 years before retiring.
A man of many talents and interests, James found great joy in the outdoors-fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden. He loved working on building projects and took pride in his craftsmanship. Holidays were a special time for him, as he delighted in cooking and bringing family together. Country music often filled his home, a reflection of his easygoing and heartfelt nature.
Above all, James cherished his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy to his life. His devotion to family and his generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Along with his beloved wife Gioconda, James is survived by his children Karen (Matt) Thomas of Oak Harbor, Ohio, Giselle (David) Veller of Weston, Ohio, Franz Stevens of Cleveland, Ohio, Mark Stevens, Melissa Kukla, grandchildren Judie Kurath, Lawson Veller, Preston Veller, great-grandchildren Nathan Lawarre, Ellie Kurath, brother Eugene Stevens and sister Judy (Will) Null.
He was preceded in death by his loving son Adam Stevens and dear grandson Ashton Copeland.
Funeral services for James will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home Tontogany, Ohio located at 18620 Washington St. 46565.
