James E. Sutton Jr.

James Edwin Sutton, Jr, age 70, died Wednesday, June 4, 2025 after a period of declining health.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Information will be forthcoming.
Jimmy lived his entire life in Greenville, except for 4 years of college. He was a proud graduate of JH Rose (1973), Louisburg College (1975), and UNC-Chapel Hill (1977). After graduation, Jimmy joined his father at Sutton's Service Center, where he was primarily involved with tire sales. Later, he worked with Pugh's Tire.
Jimmy was a life-long, avid Tar Heel fan. After marrying Ann, he became an ECU Pirate fan (unless they were playing the Tar Heels). He was also a lifetime, faithful member of First Presbyterian Church. More recently, he enjoyed watching the online service of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Wilson.
Jimmy is pre-deceased by his parents, James E. and Sara W. Sutton; siblings, Lisa, Bobby and Mert; and in-laws, Bill and Phyllis Goforth.
Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Ann, and their daughter Deanna, whom he adored and shared many rounds of golf. He is also survived by a host of other family and good friends. Many will remember him for his customer care in tire sales and always having a smile on his face.
The family appreciates all the medical staff who had cared for Jimmy these last few months, especially Dr. Lara Surles (Physicians East Farmville), and Dr. Samir Al Ghawazi (ECU Neurology) for their compassionate care.
