In Loving Memory - Celebrating a Life Well Lived
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James William "Bill" Tieman, whose remarkable journey through life came to a peaceful close on June 18, 2025, at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bill was 72 years old.
Born on May 11, 1953, in Dover, Delaware, Bill spent his formative years in Magnolia. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Henry W. Tieman Jr. and Jane E. (Patterson) Tieman, as well as his nephew, Ryan M. Tieman.
A proud graduate of Caesar Rodney High School (Class of 1971), Bill went on to earn his degree from the University of Delaware in 1975. After college, he pursued a vibrant career in fashion modeling, which brought him to New York City and Europe, where he lived life with charisma and style.
Later in life, Bill worked in various retail and sales roles, eventually blending his passion for history and aesthetics into his own antiques business-Ancestor's Antiques in Dover. An avid collector, talented gardener, and floral design enthusiast, Bill brought beauty and creativity into everything he did.
He cherished his role as "Uncle Bill," sharing a special bond with his niece and nephew-and an even deeper joy in watching his great-nieces and great-nephew grow.
Bill is survived by his brother, Henry "Hank" W. Tieman III, and sister-in-law, Teresa "Terry" Tieman, of Dover; his niece, Erin Southard, and her husband, Bryan; and his beloved great-nieces and great-nephew, Gwyneth, Josselyn, and Max Southard.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Torbert Funeral Chapels on Lebanon Road in Dover. A service honoring Bill's life will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
