James Lovell Whetton, 71, passed away May 29, 2021 at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV with family at his side. He was born April 12, 1950, in Ogden, UT, the 2nd of five children to James J. and Marian Frances Bader Whetton.

Jimmy grew up in Ogden, UT, where he graduated from Weber High School. He furthered his education by attending the University of Utah where he graduated with a bachelors' degree in business and a master's degree in finance.

After he graduated, he moved to Las Vegas, NV, where he had a long career in business, bookkeeping and accounting for many businesses and friends.

Jimmy was a true dog lover. He was passionate about showing his dogs and was active in the local Kennel Clubs.

He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as an Ordinance Worker in the Las Vegas LDS Temple, as a Service Missionary at the Bishop's Storehouse, and was the Building Cleaning Coordinator. He was also known as the Ward Grandpa, which he loved.

Jimmy was known to be extremely kind and warm hearted. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease his siblings and their friends growing up.

He is survived by his siblings: Frances Sneddon (Barry), Alan Whetton (Kathy), Leslie Hammer (Doug), Mark Whetton (Susan) and his adoring fur babies Danny and Ensign. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and best friend and husband, Ken Peters.

The family would like to express appreciation to Jimmy's ward family from the Las Vegas Alta Vista Ward and special friends: Cindy Connors, Susan Spurlock, and Becca Gort and good neighbors Nancy, Denise, and Sean for all their love and care and friendship for watching over Jimmy.

The family will honor Jimmy's life with a graveside service on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, UT.
