James "Jim" Williams, age 74, Vietnam War U.S. Army veteran, a resident of Plano, IL since 2001, formerly of Buffalo, NY, Lombard and Woodridge, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital, Sandwich, IL. He was born on October 22, 1950, in Albany, NY.
Beloved husband of Marla J. Larsen-Williams (nee Boyle), whom he married on April 18, 1992, loving father of Eric Achtien, the late Amy Williams Moll and Eric (Amber) Larsen, grandfather of Ethan, Vinny, Dylan, and Calum, devoted son of the late Jack and Jane (nee DeRonde) Williams, dear brother of Steven (Marge) Williams, Susan Fishburn, Patti (Roger) Ford and Connie Williams, son-in-law of the late Robert and Giovanna Boyle, brother-in-law of Margo (Michael) Pollitt, fond cousin, uncle, great-uncle, and friend of many.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, 3:00-7:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held Wednesday, January 8, 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
Family and friends will meet Wednesday, 1:00 PM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421, (815) 423-9958 for committal services and military honors.

Theodore Roosevelt once said "The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred by the dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again because there is no effort without error and shortcomings, but who actually strives to do the deeds, who know the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself in a worthy cause who at best, knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at worst, if he fails at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory or defeat." My brother Jim will not rest with those timid and uncertain souls. He lived his life as he chose and strove valiantly to do his best. Jim added great value to our lives and he will be deeply missed.
