James "Jim" Floyd Wright, 62, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Born in North Carolina, Jim grew up in Cherryville before moving to Myrtle Beach, where he graduated from Myrtle Beach High School and then Western Carolina University.
He was the beloved son of Sara and Hugh "Floyd" Wright, a cherished brother to Mary Wright Painter and David Wright, a loving husband to Pamela Wright, and devoted father to Andrew and McKinsey Wright.
Jim was a loyal friend, a respected teammate, and a dedicated coach. His time playing and coaching football at Myrtle Beach High School left a lasting impression on him and shaped many of his relationships throughout his life.
Beyond his love for sports, Jim enjoyed watching movies in the theater, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his daughter and their dogs, Buster & Belle Belle.
Jim passed away on Superbowl Sunday, and took his place at The Great Gig in the Sky, a fitting reflection of his soul.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 3:00pm Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Myrtle Beach High School All Sports Booster Club (Jim Wright, Class of 1981), PO Box 7414, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.

Since I left Myrtle Beach over 40 years ago, Jim stayed in touch with me and always looked out for me. We had so many good times together. I am thankful Jim and Trevor traveled to the Idaho wilderness to run the Main Salmon River. In a remote stretch of the river, we stopped at Buckskin Bills and had a good laugh while they served us a Guinness Ice Cream Float. Jim will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to the family.
