My Jamie Lee Gariepy, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on April 2, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas. She was born on August 23, 1969, and her life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Jamie’s career as a Customer Service Representative was marked by her dedication and compassion, as she endeared herself to countless customers over the years. She was an Amarillo College alumni and known for volunteering around the panhandle. From the Perryton tornadoes to the Fritch fires, Jamie was always on hand to help in any way she could.
A true adventurer at heart, Jamie found joy in off-roading and Jeeping, activities that allowed her to embrace the beauty of the outdoors. Her love for the lake brought many carefree days, filled with sunshine and laughter, where she created lasting memories with family and friends. She had a particular fondness for her dogs, and her affection for them only added warmth to her vibrant spirit.
The proudest accomplishment of her life was the love she shared with her husband, David. They exchanged vows at Sanford Baptist Church in Sanford, Texas, on February 22, 1997, in a beautiful ceremony that marked the beginning of a deep and abiding partnership. Together, they cultivated a home filled with love, support, and unwavering commitment.
Jamie leaves behind an enduring legacy through her sons; Joe Gaona and his wife Amanda, Dain Gariepy and his wife Tiffini, Austin Gariepy and his wife Ashley, and Terran Deakin and his wife Kaci, all of Fritch. Each of her sons carries a piece of her spirit, and her love will forever resonate within them. She worked hard to raise 4 boys and all four sons state she did a wonderful job.
She found immense joy in her role as a grandmother, and her thirteen grandchildren—Faith, Skyler, Samuel, Taytum, Kasyn, Daxton, Gavin, Haidyn, Hunter, Rylan, Saylor, Barrett, and Scout—were the light of her life. Jamie's love for them was boundless, and her legacy will live on in their hearts as they carry her lessons and laughter into their futures.
Jamie was preceded in death by her grandfather, Samuel Hobert and her grandmother, Lorean Hobert.
Jamie is survived by her devoted family, including her parents, Don and Linda Shipp of Amarillo; her brother, John Love and his wife Lisa of Amarillo; her sisters, Katina Nguyen and her husband Tu of Amarillo, Julie Cleveland of Amarillo, and Jennifer Oller from Carlyle, Illinois. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her mother-in-law Virginia Gariepy and her sister-in-law Michelle Gray.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
