Sara Jane Dennis
August 2, 1942 – October 17, 2025
Sara Jane Dennis, 83, known to all as Jane, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after courageously fighting Stage 4 lung cancer for over a year.
Jane was preceded in death by her sons Michael and Steven; her mother, Sara Crisp; and her father, Alfred Moultrie.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 55 years, Harold Emery Dennis, and a large, loving family who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts: Kimberly (Scott) LaMacchia, Bryan (Pam) Crisp, Megan Dennis (Tony Gill), Leigha Dennis (Joseph Vidich), Scott Dennis, Wendy Dennis-Langley, Dawn Dennis-Welch, and Melody (Patrick) Schacher. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of Taylor, Gabby, Alissa, Keegan, Jessalyn, Nicole, Cameron, Isla, Leo, Remy, Lindsey, Erick, Marty, Starr, Katie, Nolan, Malakai, Kassie, Kyle, and Jessica - as well as 33 great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy. Jane is also survived by her sisters Dianne Jones, Debby Karlquist, and Patsy Evans.
Jane and Harold were married on June 6, 1970 - a true partnership built on love, laughter, and shared adventures. Together, they raised "my kids, his kids, our kids and their kids" and even helped with a few nieces and nephews along the way.
In her younger years, Jane grew up on a farm and was fiercely competitive, playing on golf and bowling leagues and always staying active. She loved quilting, sewing, and mending anything that needed repair; garage saling, baking, and cooking; cheering on her children and grandchildren at their sporting events; and celebrating all holidays-especially Christmas. For over 20 years, she and Harold traveled internationally and explored the country in their motor home. They visited every state, collecting friends and memories from coast to coast.
What mattered most to Jane was family - and forgiveness. She believed in unconditional love, gratitude, showing up every time, always saying "I love you," and being on time (which meant fifteen minutes early). She taught her family the importance of good manners ("no elbows or hats at the table"), the joy of Friday-night Pinochle and Saturday-night Euchre, and the magic of gathering for family dinners and traditions. She gave the biggest and best hugs. Above all, she reminded everyone-every single day-that "ya have to laugh."
Jane lived in Utah, Washington, and Michigan throughout her life, but no matter where she was, she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 3:30 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Boss Cider 139 South Main St. Leslie, MI.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Jane by forgiving someone, saying "I love you," or simply finding a reason to laugh today, just as she would have.
