Janelda Louise Straw, 81, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 12:30 pm, Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Autumn Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wabash. She was born on September 26, 1943, in Wabash, to Basil and Mary Ulshafer.
Janelda attended Wabash High School and graduated from Josiah White's. She married Charles Russell Straw in Wabash and they were married for 60 years; he died April 2, 2025. Janelda was what could be described as your typical homemaker. She was a kind hearted person, and always made sure her husband and family came home to a clean house and a home cooked meal. Janelda enjoyed socializing and being around people. Some of her hobbies included flowers and gardening, and rescuing and caring for animals.
She is survived by two daughters, Melinda (Dallas) Rose of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Valerie Drake-Goodnick of Glendale, Arizona; and two granddaughters, Isabella Rose and Gabrielle Rose, both of Fort Wayne. She was also preceded in death by her parents, step daughter Valerie Drake, step son Cody Drake, brother Richard Ulshafer, and two sisters, Estella Bain and Leah Ulshafer.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-3 pm Thursday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is The Access Youth Center.
