Janet Margaret (Campbell) Black, age 90, of Stow, Massachusetts passed into glory with her
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 4, 2025.
Born to Violet and Charles Campbell on March 22, 1935 in Upper Blackville, New Brunswick,
Canada, she was the youngest of seven children.
After graduating from United Baptist Bible Training School in Moncton, New Brunswick in 1954,
she attended Victoria Hospital Training School for Nurses, graduating in 1959 and embarking on
a nursing career. She trained or served as a nurse in several hospitals including hospitals in
Montreal, Fredericton, Chicago and Boston.
Janet met Larry in Boston and they wed on her birthday in March 1969. After becoming a wife
and mother she continued in her love of nursing as a personal nurse to many cherished
patients. She eventually went on to become a naturalized American citizen.
In 2002, Janet embarked on her favorite career as a grandmother. She eventually became the
grandmother to seven treasured grandchildren.
Janet was a faithful member of Faith Evangelical Free Church in Acton for over 40 years.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Lawrence W. Black, her son, Andrew C.
Black and his wife Jennifer, her daughter, Elizabeth A. (Black) Lavelle and Elizabeth's husband
James, her treasured grandchildren, Charles L. Black and his wife Elisabeth G. Black, James.
E. Black, Madaliene E. Black, Meredith J. Black, Susan M. Black, Henry C. Black, Magdalena
Roisin Lavelle and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father,
Violet and Charles Campbell, her sister, Thelma Campbell, her brothers, Leigh Campbell, Carl
Campbell, Glen Campbell, Orville Campbell and Floyd Campbell.
The family will host a visitation at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte. 111), Acton,
Massachusetts on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 PM. A service celebrating her life
will be held at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 54 Hosmer St., Acton, Massachusetts on Saturday,
October 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM with a committal at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sudbury,
Massachusetts immediately following. All are welcome to join the reception after the service at
Faith Evangelical.
