Janet Sue Brown, 83, of Knightstown passed away Sunday, February16, 2025 at her residence. She was born March 29, 1941 in Knightstown the daughter of Virgil and Trudy “Wright” Welsh. 

Janet was a 1959 graduate of Knightstown High School. She spent many years as a waitress at Cattlemans, Maxwell House and The Brandywine, then retired from Draper following several years of employment. She was a member of the Knightstown United Methodist Church. Janet loved to cook and did catering in her younger years. She enjoyed competing in the World Food Championship with her nieces, Ann and Jane. Family was her main priority; she loved having everyone together. Janet also enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading and volunteering at the Kenneth Butler Soup Kitchen in Greenfield. 

Janet is survived by her children, Ray Sharp, Michele “Shelly” (Jeff) Kline and Todd (Andrea) Sharp; son-in-law, Tim Turner; grandchildren, Josh (Shannon) Miller, Jeremy Miller, Jordan Kline, Derek Sharp, Austin Sharp, Calla Sharp, Ciara (Jordon) Kane, Cayna Sharp, Carra Sharp and Carma Sharp; great grandchildren, Kaysen, Jaxon, Maverick, Gavin, Lenney and Calvin; several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Brown; daughter, Janna Turner; siblings, Larry Welsh, Becky Reece and Steve Welsh. 

A Celebration of Life will be at 12:00 PM Monday, February 24, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Rev. Jack Hannum officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service.
