Janet Lee Fore Callahan, age 87, of Glade Spring, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. She was born December 17, 1937 to the late Russell Edgar Fore, Jr. and Lois Pearl St. John Fore. Janet was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. She was employed by Washington Motor Company/Pioneer Chevrolet for 47 years until her retirement in 2003. She loved to make chocolate chip cookies for everyone she met. She also loved to mow her lawn and did so until she was 80 years old.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Charles R. “Wimp” Callahan, and sister, her “partner in crime,” Elizabeth Anne Bates.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Kiser and husband, Roger, and Vickie McComas and husband, Eric; beloved grandchildren, Samantha Bowers and husband, Scott, Maggie McComas, and Peyton McComas; three very special nieces, Pam Price (Randy), Cindy Davenport (Mark), and Abby Ashby (Lonnie); and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Darlene Litton officiating. Committal service will take place on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Rose Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Dr. William M. Handy and Jessica Carr for their special care over the years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 565, Glade Spring, VA 24340.
