Janet Dale, age 80, formerly of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the CentraCare Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2024, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marshall. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will be in the Marshall Cemetery later that afternoon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her celebration, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Monday, also at the Church in Marshall.

 

Janet Louise Pochardt was born on January 13, 1944, in Marshall, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Walter and Viola (Manke) Pochardt. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her youth at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Island Lake Township. Janet attended school in Lynd and graduated there with the high school class of 1962 before advancing her education in New Ulm, Minnesota.

 

On May 7, 1966, Janet was united in marriage to Rolland “Rollie” Dale and the couple made their home initially in Florida while he was stationed with the United States Air Force. They returned to Cottonwood, Minnesota, where they farmed a couple of years before moving to the Ghent farm in 1968. They lived and worked there for 19 years before moving to Marshall in 1987. Janet worked a few various jobs including as an aid at Samuel Lutheran School in Marshall. She was a devoted homemaker and farm wife. In the early 1990s, Janet began working with Schwan’s Food Company, in their marketing department, and retired there with Rollie in 2008.

 

Janet was a faithful member of her church and sang in the choir. She enjoyed socializing at the YMCA and spent many afternoons on the farm playing cards with friends and neighbors. Janet loved to bake - especially her famous caramel rolls and fresh cookies. She was constantly involved with her family – supporting 4 sons and a daughter through various activities and events and Janet was proud of her home, always keeping a pristine house.

 

Janet died peacefully on October 16, 2024, in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She reached the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 3 days. Blessed be her memory.

 

She is survived by her four children, Thomas Dale of Sauk Centre, Jason (and Stacy) Dale of Sartell, Randy Dale (and Dawn Andren) of Clear Lake, Stacey Nordin of Princeton; 9 grandchildren, Krista (and Ben) Wuebkers, Kendra (and Jason Rohloff) Dale, Michael Dale, Matthew Dale, Mitchell (and Payton) Dale, Christopher Bame, Rachel Bame, Gavin Nordin, Gracelynn Nordin; 3 great-grandchildren, Lacey Wuebkers, Isaac Lenz, Zephier Dale; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

 

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Viola Pochardt; husband, Rollie Dale; son, Jeffrey Dale; and a brother, Dale Pochardt.
