Janet Marie Ditzhazy

Janet Marie Ditzhazy of Grand Ledge passed away July 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Janet was born November 18, 1942, in River Rouge, Michigan to the late Russell and Marie (Barron) LaForest. She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School, in River Rouge in 1961.
Janet held numerous jobs but was known for her attention to detail when she worked as an Executive Secretary at both WWJ in Detroit and the Michigan Catholic Conference. She retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield after 12 years of service. While raising her three daughters, Janet stepped away from full-time employment from time to time but kept very busy. She owned and operated a drapery business where she made drapes for MSU including the Wharton Center and operated a home bakery selling Hungarian delicacies in the Detroit area.
Janet's faith was important to her, and she enjoyed serving others as an active member of St. Gerard Parish. She would often help others in need, reaching out to neighbors and friends with encouragement, a plate of homemade goodies, or with something they didn't know they needed.
Known as a fun-loving person, Janet loved bringing people together for holidays and special occasions, sharing a dance with those she loved, or playing a good-hearted joke on the unsuspecting. She particularly enjoyed playing games with her grandkids and let her competitive spirit shine when playing Euchre. Janet was a loving wife, mother, granny, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed by the many lives that she touched.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Joseph; daughters, Jeanne Brondi and Jennifer (Anthony) Greenburg and son-in-law, Matt Oberski; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Russell LaForest. Janet was preceded in death by her daughter, Joelle Oberski, and siblings, Bernadette Petty, Barbara Rivier, Robert and Roy LaForest.
Visitation is on Wednesday, July 10th from 4:00pm -7:00pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 11, 2024, 1:30 pm at St. Gerard Catholic Church, Lansing with visitation 30 minutes prior to mass.
