Janet Edwards, 78, of Stow, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025. Born on May 15, 1946, to Ralph and Dessie (Scott) Brisbin, Janet spent her life rooted in the community she loved.
A proud graduate of Stow High School, Class of 1964, Janet dedicated much of her career to serving others through her work at Terex and Community Support Services. Her life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and quiet acts of service—helping others simply because it was the right thing to do.
Janet’s greatest loves were her faith in Jesus Christ, her family, her cherished pets, her dear friends, and her passion for music. She and her late husband, Howard, shared a deep love of singing and were active members of several choirs, including the Bethany UCC Chancel Choir, the Community Church of Stow Choir, the Master Singers, and the Cuyahoga Falls Community Chorus.
Janet was a compassionate soul who touched the lives of many with her warmth and unwavering support. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Edwards, and her brothers Bob, Jim, Ozzie, Willie, and Dave Brisbin.
Janet leaves behind her son, Jeffrey (Ashley) Kunsman, step-sons, Chuck (Karla) Edwards, and Greg Edwards; grandsons, Matthew and Spencer Edwards; her sister, Judi (Ed) Lint, as well as many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Janet’s family would like to thank the caregivers who have supported her the last few years.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305) on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 5pm until 8pm where family and friends can gather to honor her memory and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Family and friends may visit again at the funeral home from 9:30am until her Funeral Service begins at 10am on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Summit County or Good Neighbors in Cuyahoga Falls to continue her lifelong spirit of generosity and care for others and animals.
Rest in peace, Janet. Your song will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
