Janet Kay Isom, 84, of Bloomington, was called home by her Lord on June 23, 2025, at 5:40 a.m.
Born January 4, 1941, in Washington, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Claude Lee and Bernice (Dosch) Lankford. She met Dennis Isom on December 10, 1983, and they were married on December 28, 1988, in Bloomington.
Janet was a devout Christian. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1958 and worked in dietary and laundry for Bloomington Hospital, as a product demonstrator for Kroger, for RCA, and as a school assistant for Manse Elementary in Pahrump, Nevada. She was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where she served as Madam State President for the Nevada Chapter. She loved cooking, crocheting, feeding animals, fishing and shooting in matches.
Surviving with her husband, Dennis Isom of Bloomington, are her daughters, Belinda (Eric) Madsen of Indianapolis and Teresa Al-HajDeib of Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers, Richard L. (Lois) Lankford of Indianapolis and Robert Lankford of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Khadijah (Omar) Al-HajDeib, Khaled Al-HajDeib, and Ahmad Lee (Aya) Al-HajDeib, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Maurice Lankford; and sister in-law, Sue Lankford.
In keeping with Janet's wishes, cremation is planned with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory were entrusted to the care of these arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made in honor of Janet to the Monroe County Humane Association or to IU Health Hospice House.
