Janet C. Mace, 89, of Columbus, passed from this life at 12:26pm Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Columbus. She was born on May 18, 1936, in Bartholomew County, the daughter of Daniel Dale and Hazel McNiece Walker. She married John M. Mace March 26, 1955; he preceded her in death on July 24, 2012.

Survivors include her children Denise (Mark) Hammitt, Kathy (Tim) Davidson, and Dan (Loveta) Mace, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Megan (Scott) Moore, Kelly (Aaron) Cole, Logan (Justice) Brown, Sara Davidson, Tom (Emily Steele) Davidson, Seth (Emily) Sanders, Chelsea (Brent) Bane, Mallory (Jimmy) Richardson, and Mackenzie (Lucas) Sanchez; fifteen great-grand children; and her brother, Gordon Walker of Indianapolis.

Janet spent over five decades farming beside her husband and was a member at Westside Community Church.

Her passing, though a time of sorrow, is also an opportunity to honor a life well-lived..

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 11am to 1pm Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.

She will be laid to rest in a private graveside service beside her late husband at the Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indian, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
