Janet "Jan" Stack, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully at her home in Hornsby, Tennessee, on December 9, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on July 8, 1952, in Hornsby, Jan dedicated her life to her family and community, making a profound impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
For 17 years, she served as a bus driver with the Madison County School System, cherishing her role in the lives of countless children until her retirement in 2014. Jan was known for her infectious smile, nurturing spirit, and unyielding patience as she navigated the roads of Madison County, ensuring that each student felt seen and cared for on their journey to and from school.
Jan was not only a devoted professional but also an artist at heart. She enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, and quilting, often finding solace and joy in her creative pursuits. Her love for music and crafts was matched only by her deep affection for her family. Jan was a proud grandmother, doting on her grandbabies Sophia, Ryan, Nolan, Roman, Gideon, Junia, Kyle, Carlie, Caleb, Kaden, and Kara Lynn, bringing laughter and warmth into their lives.
A member of Abundant Life Church, Jan's faith was a guiding force in her life. Through her involvement with the church, she fostered a sense of community and support that extended beyond her immediate family. She cherished her relationships with her sisters, Jewel Horner and Jim of Dyersburg, Janie Overton of Bolivar. She is also survived by her loving sons, Clay Stack and Anna of Bolivar, and Clint Stack and Kellie of Toone, who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness, as well as her sister-in-law, Linda Goodrum of Hornsby and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Jan was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Clarence B. Goodrum and Mildred Florence Sanders Goodrum, her first and second husbands, Ralph Donald Pierce and James Anthony Stack and her brother, Clarence Goodrum, Jr. Their absence now leaves a profound sadness in the hearts of all who loved her.
The impact of Jan Stack's life resonates in the stories shared by those who knew her, the laughter of her grandchildren, and the warmth of her family gatherings. As we gather to celebrate her life, we will remember her generous spirit, creative joy, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
A funeral service will be held on December 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar, followed by her interment at Ebenezer Cemetery at Toone. We invite all who knew and loved Jan to join us in honoring her remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on each of our hearts.
